Victims of Execution Discovered in Iraq

Authorities in Iraq have discovered the bodies of 34 men believed killed by insurgents.

Thirteen were discovered in a shallow grave in eastern Baghdad. They had been tied up, blindfolded and shot in the head.

At a similar scene 40 kilometers south of Baghdad, police found 11 bodies dumped at an abandoned chicken farm.

And in Ramadi, the bodies of 10 Iraqi soldiers were discovered.

Insurgent attacks continued on Sunday. Gunmen in western Baghdad killed Interior Ministry official Col. Jassam Mohammed al-Lahibi and his driver.

A leading Shiite cleric, Sheik Qassim al-Gharawi, and his nephew were shot to death.

And a car-bomb exploded near the motorcade of Diyala provincial governor Raed Rashid Hamid al-Mullah Jawad. Three of his bodyguards were injured, but he escaped unharmed.
