US Election Biden Running Mate -- USAGM

The racial protests have increased pressure on Biden to pick an African American running mate, raising the prospects for California Sen. Kamala Harris and dimming those for Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar. Biden has promised to name a highly qualified woman as his vice president, in part to appeal to female voters. Naming Harris could an also energize the African American base of the Democratic Party but could also alienate independent voters Biden needs to win in swing states.
