LIVE BLOG: Clinton Becomes First Woman Nominated for President

The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

Crowley asks where was Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump "cashed in" with the bill, even though he said his buildings were not affected by the attacks.

"Hillary has never and will never forget the reality of that day," he says.

The crowd cheers.

U.S. Representative Joseph Crowley, who said he was on the runway at LaGuardia during the 2001 attacks, said, "People forget, but the assistance package (for the attacks) when first proposed didn't have a dime for New York, not a dime."
