Christine Leinonen is onstage. Her son Christopher Leinonen, his boyfriend and 47 others were killed in a mass shooting in Orlando, at the Pulse nightclub. A hush has fallen on the delegates. But they cheer when she becomes emotional while speaking. Some in the arena are shown weeping.
Daniels then discusses gun violence and where Clinton stands on the issues.
Daniels says his father, a police officer, was also killed in the line of service.
Daniels says once he was asked he wondered if Hillary Clinton truly knew him -- and then he described his various family members are incarcerated, and that he was once incarcerated.
"That's the America I know, and still I rise," he said, to loud cheers from the crowd.
